Hill DT computerized spinal decompression table at Revive Disc & Spine

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression in Utica and Syracuse

Revive Disc & Spine is the new spinal decompression program at Revive Health. Led by Dr. Tim DelMedico, DC, it brings computerized decompression on the Hill DT table to our Utica and Syracuse offices for people living with disc-related back and neck pain.

If you have been told your only options are pain medication, injections, or surgery, decompression may offer another path. It is noninvasive, it uses no needles, and it involves no surgery or downtime.

What Is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression is a gentle, computer-controlled therapy that slowly lengthens the spine to take pressure off irritated discs and nerves. As the space between the vertebrae increases, pressure inside the disc drops. That may help draw water, oxygen, and nutrients back into the disc and give it a better environment to heal.

It is not the same as traditional traction or an inversion table. Decompression uses a precise, cycling pull that changes in real time based on how your body responds, so your muscles stay relaxed instead of tensing up against the stretch.

Conditions Spinal Decompression May Help

  • Herniated discs
  • Bulging or protruding discs
  • Sciatica and pain that travels down the leg
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Pinched nerves and radiating arm pain
  • Facet joint irritation
  • Chronic low back pain
  • Chronic neck pain

Every patient is evaluated first. Decompression is not right for everyone, and Dr. Tim will let you know if another approach is a better fit.

The Hill DT Decompression Table: Features and Benefits

We chose the Hill DT because it is built around the one thing that makes decompression work: keeping your muscles relaxed while the spine is gently lengthened.

  • Load sensor technology. The table constantly measures the treatment force and your body's resistance throughout every session.
  • Real-time adjustment. When the Hill DT senses your muscles starting to guard, it eases the pull. The result is a smooth, low-force treatment.
  • Lumbar and cervical treatment. One system treats both the low back and the neck.
  • Computerized precision. Each session is programmed to your condition and tracked so your plan can be adjusted as you improve.
  • Comfortable positioning. You lie on your back, fully clothed, with supportive harnesses and cushions.

Potential benefits include easing back and neck pain, relieving nerve-related discomfort, reducing muscle tension, and improving comfort and mobility. Individual results vary.

What to Expect

  • Consultation and evaluation. Dr. Tim reviews your history, any imaging you have, and your goals to confirm decompression is a good fit.
  • Relaxed sessions. Treatments typically last about 20 to 30 minutes. Most patients find them comfortable, and many relax or even fall asleep.
  • A structured plan. Decompression is delivered as a series of visits over several weeks, built around your condition.
  • No downtime. You can return to normal daily activities right after each visit.

Part of a Complete Spine Care Plan

Decompression often works best alongside the therapies Revive Health already offers. SoftWave Therapy may help calm inflammation and support tissue repair, and Red Light Therapy may support recovery at the cellular level.

Spinal Decompression FAQs

Does spinal decompression hurt?

Most patients describe it as a gentle stretch. The Hill DT is designed to stay below the point where your muscles tense up, which keeps sessions comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and how long you have had it. Dr. Tim will recommend a personalized plan at your evaluation.

Is decompression the same as traction?

No. Traditional traction applies a steady pull that can cause muscles to guard. Computerized decompression cycles the pull and adjusts in real time to keep you relaxed.

Who is not a candidate?

Decompression may not be appropriate for people who are pregnant or who have certain conditions such as spinal fractures, advanced osteoporosis, spinal tumors, or spinal hardware. Your evaluation will screen for these.
